Inside Brosnan Yard: Central Georgia’s Rail Industry Hub

Sitting just two miles from the heart of downtown Macon, Brosnan Yard is an economic lynchpin for the southeastern United States, connecting manufacturers in the southeast to markets all over the US and beyond for nearly 60 years.

Today, the yard is operated by Norfolk Southern as a major classification yard. The team at the yard receives and sorts some 10,000 railcars every week, building trains that depart from Macon to destinations across the Norfolk Southern network.

Recently, WMAZ stopped by Brosnan Yard to see firsthand how Macon’s history as a transportation hub lives on today, supporting virtually every facet of the American economy. Check out the story here.
