Norfolk Southern creates safety and community grant programs

Norfolk Southern has officially launched two new grant programs for first responders and community organizations across its 22-state network: the Safety First Grant Program and the Thriving Communities Grant Program.

At Norfolk Southern, everything starts with safety. The Safety First Grant is designed to advance safety organizations and initiatives across Norfolk Southern’s 22-state network. Each grant, up to $15,000, will support first responders that work tirelessly to prepare and prevent emergencies and ensure community safety.

The Thriving Communities Grant will promote economic opportunity, support vibrant community life, and provide equal access to basic necessities. Each grant, up to $50,000, will support nonprofit organizations across the NS network that are working to build a strong and resilient foundation for long-term prosperity.

“We are always looking for new ways to advance safety and nurture thriving communities across our 22-state network,” said Kristin Wong, Director of Corporate Giving at Norfolk Southern. “Through our Safety First Grant and Thriving Communities Grant programs, we are reinforcing our dedication to forge meaningful connections by directing resources towards initiatives that enhance safety, ensure sustainable practices, foster local workforce development, and develop resilient communities."
