Norfolk Southern is pleased to announce that three of its rail-served industrial sites, located in Kentucky, South Carolina, and Virginia, have received designations from the Site Selectors Guild’s REDI (Readiness Evaluation and Designation Initiative) Sites Program. The Site Selectors Guild is the only association of the world’s foremost professional site selection consultants. Guild members provide location strategy to corporations across the globe and for every industry, sector, and function.
“These designations underscore Norfolk Southern’s dedication to making site selection easier for companies that rely on rail to meet their supply chain needs,” said Craig Hudson, GVP of Industrial Development at Norfolk Southern. “By investing in development-ready sites across our network, we’re helping quality companies make informed decisions, positioning them in locations optimized for rail connectivity and logistical efficiency. This approach not only supports their growth but also strengthens the economic vitality of the communities we serve.”
The REDI Sites Program, developed by the Site Selectors Guild, is the first comprehensive national standard for site readiness. It rigorously evaluates factors such as infrastructure, development feasibility, ownership, and workforce availability. Sites earn designations indicating their readiness to support corporate development and attract significant investments.
“Project-ready sites are the linchpin of the speed-to-market that every company needs,” said Didi Caldwell, chair of REDI Sites and president and CEO of Global Location Strategies. “The six designated sites are stellar examples of strategic investment in economic development preparedness, and I am proud that REDI Sites can help advance them on their goal of attracting jobs and investment into their communities.”
