Norfolk Southern President and CEO Alan Shaw recently visited Chicago and spent time with crews at the 47^th Street Yard and Calumet Yard. Every time Shaw spends time in a yard, he makes a point to talk about safety, and this trip was no different.

The discussions in Chicago revolved around Norfolk Southern’s new safety initiatives, including the recent collaboration with union leaders, and the decision to hire a safety consultant from the nuclear Navy. Shaw says he wants Norfolk Sothern to have a “transparent and candid culture where everyone has a voice.”
