Preparing for the holiday rush is no small feat. It takes months of meticulous planning and seamless teamwork. Everyone on Team NS plays a crucial role.

Throughout Peak Season, our teams can see as much as a 60% increase in parcel volumes compared to the rest of the year.

This sequential surge means more shipments moving through busy terminals, longer trains running along key routes, and our team working tirelessly around the clock to ensure your gifts, packages, and supplies arrive safely and on time.

To put this in perspective, on average, NS moves 5-7 million packages each week. During Peak Season, that number doubles to 10-14 million packages weekly.

Over these six weeks, our railroaders will deliver an incredible 60-80 million packages to keep the holiday season rolling across our network!

Behind the scenes, seamless collaboration is key. Transportation, Intermodal Operations, Mechanical, the Network Operations Center (NOC), Network Planning & Optimization (NPO), Customer Logistics, and Commercial teams work together 24/7 to coordinate efforts, overcome challenges, and deliver a successful Peak Season.
