Photos: Inspection train visits sites in multi-state tour

Norfolk Southern operates inspection trains across our 22-state network to bolster employee engagement and to gather feedback. The train purposely stops at our yards and terminals so that passengers have the opportunity to see our facilities up close and meet with our railroaders. These interactions provide a valuable opportunity to get feedback that helps us to enhance our culture.

Recently, our Operations leadership team rode the inspection train for a two-day trip to meet with railroaders in Cincinnati; Danville, Kentucky; and Chattanooga. During each visit, leadership engaged in a productive dialogue with railroaders from Transportation, Mechanical, Engineering, and Communication and Signals, on ways we can enhance our culture and be a safer and more customer-centric, operations-driven railroad.

“We appreciated the input we received from our railroaders during our visits,” said Paul Duncan, Chief Operating Officer. “These conversations are so important to our efforts to enhance our culture of safety. We are committed to continuing these visits so that we can meet with as many of our railroaders as possible.”

In the coming months, leadership will take the inspection train to meet with additional railroaders and listen to feedback.
