Meghan Achimasi, Group Vice President – Chemicals Marketing, has been named to Railway Age’s 2023 Women in Rail list for her exceptional contributions to the rail industry. The awards are presented to women in the North American rail industry for their outstanding leadership, vision, innovation, and community service.
Driving industry innovations
Over the course of two decades at Norfolk Southern, Achimasi has established herself as a trusted relationship manager.
In her current role, Achimasi oversees a team of two dozen employees managing a business unit worth $2 billion in annual revenues. Her influence goes beyond numbers; she plays a pivotal role in driving innovations that are shaping the rail industry.
Achimasi was integral to the development of industry-facing customer engagement applications - AccessNS and the NS Trax mobile app. These applications are part of the company’s broader initiative to enhance customer service and stimulate business growth.
A leader who mentors others
Achimasi remains deeply connected to her alma mater, Virginia Tech. She serves as a board member for the Executive Advisory Board for the Center for Business Analytics, actively contributing to students' education in data, analytics, and business intelligence, and she also volunteers regularly in the children’s ministry at her church.
“I've been surrounded by a number of people that have championed me in Marketing, Finance and throughout the company to help me be successful,” said Achimasi. “And I believe it is so important to give back to others in the same way.”
"Meghan’s leadership qualities reflect a genuine and transparent approach, embodying a true servant leader,” said Executive Vice President & Chief Marketing Officer Ed Elkins. “She deeply cares for her colleagues, customers, and the company, striving to unite her team as ambassadors for the entire Norfolk Southern corporation.”
